Liquid crystal display device

Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve image quality and to prevent the deterioration of a liquid crystal by impressing an AC signal which has the polarity reverse from the polarity of a gate pulse and falls upon rising of the gate pulse and rises upon falling of the gate pulse to an auxiliary electrode. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal layer is provided on a picture element electrode 2 and further a common electrode is provided thereon. The auxiliary electrode 7 having an auxiliary capacity is provided between this electrode and the picture element electrode 2. The AC signal which has the polarity reverse from the polarity of the gate pulse and falls upon rising of the gate pulse and rises upon falling of the gate pulse is applied to the auxiliary electrode 7 and the signal breaking through the picture element electrode 2 is offset by the gate pulse to decrease the shift quantity of a source signal waveform by the signal breaking through the picture element electrode by this AC signal.
